Running your own business can be lonely.
You are brilliant at what you do, but then you realise you need to acquire other skills for your business to prosper and grow.
The best piece of advice we can give is to ask for help from experienced business owners who were once in the same situation as you are in now.
Talking with a mentor gives you time to take stock. It’s hard when you faced with the day-to-day demands of running a business to step aside to see the bigger picture. Meeting with a mentor gives you space and time out to think and plan strategically.
Bringing issues out into the light. A good mentor will help you to shine a light on key aspects of your business or your decisions to help you identify areas that might require attention.
A sounding board. A mentor will give you the opportunity to talk about your business ideas and challenges out loud and without judgement.
Access to networks. The best mentors are plugged into wide network of business contacts and specialists which can be incredibly valuable when you have a specific business issue that requires a specialist.
A cheerleader. Sometimes it just helps to know someone understands what it’s like to run a business and are ‘on your side’.
